  Gemstone offers devices that provide a direct interface for fiber optical transmission in International Telecommunications Union (ITU), ETSI, ANSI and Bellcore standards. Gemstone’s product family of "MSAP" bridges the interconnections among SDH/SONET, ATM, IP and PDH/ASYNC protocols, allowing versatile transmission lines to be connected with SDH/SONET lines. Asynchronous signals with frame, packet and/or cell formats can therefore be transported across the SDH/SONET network transparently. Gemstone believes that its mix-signal design and telecom system expertise and experience in designing and testing the "MSAP", along with the supporting, provide it with a significant competitive advantage.
